A SCADA alternative for monitoring many sites, without replacing local control
If your operation has dozens or hundreds of remote sites and someone is quoting you a SCADA just to see them, there is another path. GSS Analytix does not replace plant SCADA or process control: it is a layer on top. Phantom Shield reads the brownfield equipment and the SCADA, BMS or controllers already at each site, and Reveal concentrates health, alerts and analytics for every site, while local control stays as it is.
What it monitors without a new SCADA at every site
- Distributed assets that would push you toward a SCADA per site: generators, UPS units, battery banks, rectifiers, fuel tanks, pumps and meters at remote sites
- Status, alarms, run hours and electrical variables read from the PLCs, RTUs, controllers and meters already installed, over Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, SNMP, MQTT or HTTP/REST, with no firmware changes
- Signals from the SCADA, BMS or DCIM you already run at some sites, concentrated together with sites that have none
- Physical security correlated with power and backup: cabinet openings, intrusion, access control and offline cameras
- Alerts, time-stamped history, audit-ready reports and natural-language queries across every site
GSS Analytix is not a SCADA for process control: it does not close control loops or stand in for the plant HMI. It is the multisite monitoring layer on what already exists, without replacing local control.
When a new SCADA is not the answer
A SCADA is built to supervise and control a process: a plant, a line, a pumping station. When the real challenge is knowing from one screen whether hundreds of small, distributed sites are healthy (telecom base stations, fuel stations, retail stores, hospitals, warehouses), taking a SCADA to every site usually means servers, licenses, screen engineering and dedicated communications at places that have no process to control. The alternative is to connect what is already installed with one gateway per site, send the data to the cloud and let Reveal deliver multisite health, alerts and evidence. Where a SCADA already exists, it is read and added; where there is none, you do not need to install one.
How it works: multisite monitoring on top of what already exists
- 1Connect. One Phantom Shield per site, physical or virtual, reads PLCs, RTUs, controllers, meters and the existing SCADA or BMS over Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, SNMP, MQTT or HTTP/REST. New gateways use zero-touch provisioning; where wiring is hard, Modbus-to-LoRaWAN converters carry the readings, and where a device has no data output, existing cameras can read its indicators.
- 2Collect. Continuous reads with local storage on the gateway (store and forward): if a remote site's link drops, data stays on the gateway and syncs on reconnect. In sensitive contexts the gateway runs read-only and never touches control logic.
- 3Normalize. Reveal maps every signal into a common semantic layer (Brick), so a generator at a site with SCADA compares with one at a site with no system at all, even when brands and controllers differ.
- 4Analyze. Reveal learns each device's normal behavior, flags anomalies before they become failures and correlates events across systems and sites: a cabinet opening and a battery drop at the same site, or the same pattern repeating across dozens of sites.
- 5Act. Alerts via WhatsApp, email or ticketing to your operations center, audit-ready reports and, on equipment that supports it, logged automatic actions. Process control stays in the local SCADA or controller; Reveal adds the multisite view.
Results in real operations
Nationwide telecom operator
Remote, centralized monitoring of cabinets and backup batteries at 460 base stations, with critical alerts to the customer's operations center: 85% fewer vandalism events and USD 2.3 million in real savings, without standing up a SCADA at every site.
High-complexity medical center, Colombia
7 backup generators, 17 energy metering points and 2 fire detection systems: 26 primary connections in one platform, with an alert when a generator starts running without a scheduled outage.
Shopping center, Bogotá
3 Phantom Shield L0 gateways and 10 primary connections for water and electrical control.
Who it is for
- Operations with many small, distributed sites (telecom, fuel stations, retail, healthcare, free trade zones) that were offered a SCADA just for remote monitoring
- Plants and industrial operators that already run SCADA on the process and want to see power, backup and auxiliary equipment across sites without touching it
- OT/IT teams that need data from multi-brand equipment in one common model, read-only where the risk calls for it

FAQ: a SCADA alternative for monitoring many sites
Is GSS Analytix a SCADA, or does it replace the one I have?
No. GSS Analytix is not a SCADA for process control and does not replace plant SCADA, the HMI or the PLCs. It is a monitoring and analytics layer on top: it reads what already exists and delivers the multisite view of health, alerts and evidence, while local control stays as it is.
When does a monitoring layer make more sense than a new SCADA?
When the goal is to supervise the health of many distributed sites, not to control a process. If you have dozens or hundreds of sites with generators, UPS units, batteries, tanks, meters or cabinets and need to know which one is failing and why, one gateway per site plus the cloud is usually faster and lighter than a SCADA per site. Real-time control loops inside a plant remain the job of the local SCADA.
Can it read data from a SCADA, PLC or RTU I already have?
Yes. Phantom Shield connects over OPC UA, Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, MQTT or HTTP/REST to the existing SCADA, PLCs, RTUs, controllers and meters, with no firmware changes. In sensitive contexts it is deployed read-only.
What happens if a remote site loses its connection?
Phantom Shield stores readings on the gateway (store and forward) and syncs them when the link returns, so there are no gaps in the history. Where wiring is hard, Modbus-to-LoRaWAN converters carry the data within the site.
Does it work if some sites have SCADA, others a BMS and others nothing?
Yes. Reveal normalizes signals from SCADA, BMS, DCIM and standalone equipment into a common semantic layer (Brick). A device at a site with SCADA compares with one at a site with no system, on the same dashboard and with the same alerts.
How are new sites added without an integration project per site?
Phantom Shield gateways use zero-touch provisioning, and each new site joins the same platform. For example, a free trade zone in Colombia is deploying Reveal over a LoRaWAN network ready to grow to 32 warehouses.
How is a project sized compared with a multisite SCADA?
By primary connection: each device, gateway or data source connected through Phantom Shield counts as one. Tell us how many sites you have, which assets and which SCADA or BMS you already run, and we prepare a proposal.
How many sites do you want to see without installing a SCADA at each one?
Projects are sized by primary connection. Tell us how many sites you have, which critical assets sit at each one and which SCADA, BMS or controllers you already run, and we prepare a multisite monitoring proposal that does not replace local control.
